The Falcons participated in their first ever attack-defend CTF. Hosted by F.A.U.S.T
Despite their eagerness and anticipation, as the Falcons showed up to participate they were sadly greeted by set back after set back.
Not accepting these set backs easily, members of the committee were hard at work attempting to troubleshoot the issue. Meanwhile, not to be outdone, the participating members warmed up and honed their skills together; some decided to collaberate on OverTheWire, whilst others continued to research and strategise for the compeition. Due to each member working together, communicating, learning new things, and most importantly having fun, the day flew by.
In the end, it was a networking issue that was out of UWE CTF Falcons and F.A.U.S.T CTF's control which caused the set backs. Despite this however, UWE CTF Falcons managed to finish in the top 100 teams out of 243 .And they had found more resources on how to not only attack a hardened system but also how to harden a system.
UWE CTF Falcons would like to thank everyone who came to participate and we would also like to extend our thanks to the organisers of F.A.U.S.T CTF for making this attack-defend possible. We can't wait for the next one and hopefully next time there won't be so many set backs!
