Our Vision

The UWE CTF Falcons vision is to build and maintain an inclusive and collaborative environment for students to explore the realm of cybersecurity and prepare themselves for the future.

Our Story

UWE CTF Falcons was built for students by students.

Founded in May '24 by a group of students looking to evolve and develop their knowledge in cybersecurity, technical skills and professional skill by taking part in a variety of CTF challenges.

Since then the Falcons has steadily grown into a fully fledged Students Union at UWE society. From such humble beginnings the Falcons mission statement has grown to encompass the personal and professional development of our members.

Whilst Capture-The-Flag (CTF) events will play a key part in the Falcons future offering students practical experience to build upon the knowledge and concepts taught in the classrooms. Falcons activities have expanded to our CyberNest Bootcamps wherein we explore the fascinating world of cyberspace, from network and system hardening to cyber threat intelligence.

Complimenting the Falcons Bootcamps that allow students to build upon their studies, and develop industry ready skills is UWE Falcons Guest Speaker and Community Engagement programs. These programs offer Falcons opportunities to engage with industry professionals and Falcons Alumni and develop first class professional and personal skills, such as critical and strategic thinking, professional technical skills, risk assessment and management, and interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership.

The Falcons Community Engagement program offers our member the opportunity to take part in outreach projects supporting teachers in local schools and connecting and collaborating with societies and students at UWE to help advise them on safe online practices and personal cyber security to help improve the general standards of online personal security at UWE.

All the Falcons programs are designed to help our members develop important skills and experiences necessary for making an impact when they leave UWE.

Laying the foundations for a brighter future.
