Cyber Leaders Challenge

The UWE CTF Falcons participated in the Cyber Leader's Challenge.

The scenario; the port of Great Yarmouth has been hacked and the group behind it is suspected to be Volt Typhoon. Teams were given a brief that outlined BAE's initial incident response report, MI5's report on nation state actors, and email chains involving the port of Great Yarmouth and the port of Liverpool. Teams were then put into the shoes of consultants advising a local group of decision-makers on an incident related to critical national infrastructure. This provided them with the opportunity to showcase their technical knowledge, their presentation skills, their ability to shorten and simplify ample and complex concepts, and their trust and teamworking skills.

As a member of team JDOS I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and although we didn't make it through to the National Qualifiers I look forward to doing it again next time.

"I met a load of really interesting people and overall had a really insightful time this month learning how to analyse and properly brief a threat scenario. Despite not making it to the final, I'm incredibly happy that we made it this far alongside some of the best and brightest in the country. Well done to all the UWE teams who participated and best of luck to those going to London!"

Despite not making it through to the National Qualifiers, we will take what we learnt this year and come back stronger than ever next year!

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and we wish all the teams who made it to the next round the best of luck.
